  • Trustee Vacancies -

    Length of Trustee Terms-

    • One open position is for a four-year unfilled expired term, ending with the November 2026 elections.
    • One open position is for a two-year currently unfilled unexpired term, ending with the November 2024 elections.
    Applicants must be a resident of the Village of Shoreham and willing to attend monthly evening Council meetings and additional meetings as situations dictate. Trustees make decisions as a member of the Village Council, and do not act as individuals or apart from the council. Power and Duties of the Council - The Home Rule Acts each place the legislative authority of the municipality in the Council. It is important to remember that this authority is granted to the Council as a whole, rather than to individual members.  

      Together, as well as individually, it is their responsibility to:

    • Establish Council Priorities
    • Responsible for policy decision making
    • Participate in Formal Council Meetings
    • Interact with Citizen Boards and Commissions
    • Appoint Citizen Boards and Commissions
    • Work with the Village President
    • Direct the village President from time to time to follow certain administrative policies and practices

  • Parks Commissioner -  complete oversight of meetings, budgets, projects, bids, and spending.
  • Events Coordinator -
  • Planning Commission Member - responsibility is to advise the Village of Shoreham regarding sound community development. It is required to adopt a Village Master Plan. It also makes recommendations on zoning and other land controls.The membership of the Planning Commission represents different professions and occupations having an interest in the growth and development of the Village. The membership is to include a representation of important segments of the community, such as the economic, governmental, educational, and social development of the Village of Shoreham, with the major interests as they exist such as agriculture, natural resources, recreation, education, public health, government, transportation, industry, andcommerce. Members of the Planning Commission must be residents of the Village of Shoreham.
  • Zoning Board of Appeals Members - The members selected shall be representative of the population distribution and of the various interests present in the Village. The Zoning Board of Appeals hears questions that arise in administration of the zoning ordinance.  The Zoning Board of Appeals makes interpretations of the zoning ordinance, hears variance requests, hears appeals from administrative determinations by zoning officials or bodies and other matters assigned by the zoning ordinance.  Applicants must be Village of Shoreham residents.
